Well, all is fine and dandy - the lovely consultant is pleased with my continued control and the fact that I had done the additional tests to see what has been going on and logging the results.
We are sticking with the current regime of 4 units Novorapid with eve meal and 10 units of levemir in the evening. My waking BS are spot on.
With regards to the 2 hr after breakfast he suggested I inject a few units of novo and see how I go on or (which is contrary to what the nutritionist tell type 2's 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fat in diet) lower the carb intake at breakfast and opt for more protein i.e. Brown (seeded or granary toast) x 1 with eggs and even sausgae and bacon (I laughted at him at this point and asked if he was encouraging me to eat naughty fatty food
). He said I know your carb intake is not a lot, as it is but doing this will make such a difference and mean no extra insulin.
I have also lost weight !! which I knew anyway
He was ok with my HbA1c the GP did back in Sept (I think) at 6.8 - bit higher than it has been, but hopefully I can work on getting it back down again.
So the plan is to look at breakfast and figure out best how to make time for eggs a'la something in the mornings - I think twice a week will be enough and then something else for the rest. I am going to stick to porridge on a Saturday & Sunday as I go cycling and running.
