Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was diagnosed as Type 2 in late Feb. I'm in the process of changing my lifestyle and have lost weight. I'm on Metformin to help the D. I'm suffering from constipation, even though I'm eating plenty of fruit (not food!) and veg. What would anyone recommend to ease this. I'd prefer a natural remedy if possible. Many thanks, Michael

Fibre (which specifically I don't know :( ) and possibly drink more.
Last november the hospital gave me Senna tablets and Lactulose Solution. Though online it says the Lactulose isn't the best for diabetics, as it can affect your BG. The Senna can be bought over the counter.
Check with your GP before touching either.

Right, thanks. As I've just been diagnosed, BG isn't getting monitored by myself on a regular basis (yet)

I have a spoonful of Normacol every morning. Not sure if it's good for a person to have this kind of help on a daily basis, but it's what they gave me due to Diverticulitis, can't afford to not be regular! A lot of peoples use Psysillium Husks from Holland & Barrett.

You might need more water. Fibre is the usual advice, but those with really bad constipation requiring a surgeon are often found to have a bowel packed with dry fibrous matter. More water, and more fatty nuts or meat might resolve the problem.

If you struggle bad and have tried the life style changes and introduced more water and fibre I recommend contact the GP.

I suffer with this sometimes and I made loads of changes and still needed some medical assistance.

lube effect
Yes, that is something that can make a difference. Though people don't think about it. I hadn't really, at least conscuiously

I had Ralph - many times over the decades! LOL - TMI anyway 🙂
