Sorry its me again!
I have been testing for à month now and my morning fasting reading has always been over 8, much higher than the reading for the previous evening two hours after eating.
I understand about the glucose release in the early morning so not a problem but suddenly over the last few days the morning fasting reading has been in the low 7s.
Today I decided to try a tsp of marmalade on my toast! and the reading actually went down from 73 to 7.1 at the two hours after eating test.
I took another reading and tested the meter with the test strip but all is correct, so can anyone explain what's happening please?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking @JMyrtle - but to reassure you, the meter you are using has more than enough variation inbuilt into it to render 7.3 and 7.1 from exactly the same sample using 2 strips from the same pot.

Even 7 vs 8 is pretty much reading 'the same'.

Good that your levels in the morning seem to be coming down a bit. That slight reductino could be due to all manner of things, slight variations in your body's insulin sensitivity/resistance, variance in hormonal response (rediction in the DP that's causing the rise), weight loss, changes in temperature, different amounts (and types) of stress, recovery from illness... any number of things.

For all the illusion of 'diabetes maths' and decimal point accuracy, sometimes it is good to remember that at the end of the day this is all biology and a little bit unpredictable.

Yeh I thing I finally got here.
GP set me a goal of 48 mmol\mol by the time I have my next blood test at the end of march.
My 30 day average is 8.0, 14 days 7.8 and 7 days 7.7 which according to my guide sheet is 48.
All I have to do now is keep it up!
