Welcome to the forum
@Funtime
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and that you have been a bit confused by some of the things you’ve read online.
51 is only a little over the threshold for a diagnosis with T2, so as
@trophywench says, it may only take some modest tweaks to your diet to allow your body to cope better with the carbs you are eating.
Unfortunately there’s no ‘one size fits all’ dietary approach that will work for everyone, and different people can cope with greater amounts of carbohydrate than others. And as
@trophywench suggests, while there are obvious things like cakes, biscuits, sweets and sugary drinks that you will want to cut out straight away, you might be surprised how much *all* carbohydrate affects your BG levels, including rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, pastry, grains, cereals and many fruits.
That’s not to say you can‘t have any of those things any longer, but a reduction in portion sizes might really help.
🙂
