I don't know if anyone can help or know the answer.

I'm using my new testing kit aviva expert & a bit confused how its worked out my insulin/corrective.

I had a snack in the night, I was 7.8 & it said 4 units
Woke up & I'm 11.2, maybe yesterday's failed glargine & the fact I've upped my dose will need to be factored in.

But how do I find what the consultant programmed in for corrective units & I know it should be set at 2 units to 10 grams.

I had a play round but can't see it

Hi Laura,
read the instructions 😛 If all else fails ring the help line.
First things first though have you done any basal testing to see what is happening in that dept?

You might find it easier to read the instructions then play with meter for 10 mins give it a rest and then have another go.
Saves a lot on the frustration 🙂

I was looking in the instructions but must have missed it.

I'm just not convinced that its been set right.
If I wasn't working at the weekend (as well as all this week) then is be happy to play but arghhhh!!!

As you had a problem with your Lantus, it best to just go with things until things have sorted themselves.
Have you looked on line for any demo videos?

I'm having a look now while the boss is out.

It's just hard to get my head round it all with it being so different

Hi Laura

You can adjust the correction factor setting (called Insulin Sensitivity on the Expert) to be different for different times of day.

Go Settings > Bolus Advice > Time Blocks

Then choose the time block you want to change

For each time block you can specify your Target Range, Carb Ratio and Insulin Sensitivity as well as adjust the length/timing of the block itself

Insulin Sensitivity is expressed as how many mmol/L your BG would drop by per 1u of insulin

Carb Ratio can be set per 1u in whole grams, or if you want a little more precision you can use per 10u

eg 1u for 10g
or
10u for 95g which allows you to have 5% increments rather than only 10% 🙂

Hope that helps

Thanks mike.

It says 1 unit to bring me down 3mmol

And my units to 10grams wasn't right so have fixed it

But Laura - DOES 1u actually bring you down 3 mmol?

But Laura - DOES 1u actually bring you down 3 mmol?

I've come down 4.5mmol but I usually don't drop that much.
I usually drop about 2mmol from 1 unit
