Hi Stoke 109, welcome to the forum
🙂 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, how did it come about? There is a lot to take in to begin with, but take things at a pace you can manage and try not to become overwhelmed - nothing dreadful will happen overnight
🙂 It will become clearer, and the more you understand, the better you will be able to manage things - and hopefully, the better you will feel about things. Diabetes can be a very individual condition, but there are many common elements that most people share, so it's more a case of discovering your own individual tolerances for things and fine-tuning over time.
I'd recommend reading
Jennifer's Advice and
Maggie Davey's letter - both of these sources have been around for many years, but have stood the test of time because they are so helpful. I'd also recommend getting a copy of
Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, which many of our members have found to be very positive and useful
🙂
Have you been given any medication, and a meter and test strips so you can test your reactions to different types of food?
