I spent that long loitering at the yogurt fridges in Morrisons on Wednesday evening, I was afraid security would tap me on the shoulder and politely ask me to move on!!

Long (and very boring) story cut short and after fondling several hundred yogurt pots, I finished up buying this low fat Greek yogurt but I'm not sure I've made the right choice as the sugar seems quite high............or is it?

It's to have with strawberries as well, so I don't want to particularly send by BG level into shock 😱

To be honest I've always bought Mueller light yogurt in the past but they had a REALLY high carb percentage so I put those back.

If my choice is a rubbish one, what is recommended? I am a fussy nuisance though when it comes to yogurt and only really like Greek or toffee / chocolatey ones. I'm not a fan of fruity yogurt.

It looks like a reasonable choice if you want a low fat yoghurt. As you say some of them are much higher carb because of added fruit or starches.
A full fat Greek yoghurt would be slightly less carb but not enough to worry about but would fill you up for longer.
I personally find the low fat yoghurt too acidic.
A 100g portion with 140g strawberries would be about 14g carbs, so you would need to see if that was ok for you.

Plain yogurt is usually better than flavoured ones, because even if there’s no added sugar , they usually put some sort of thickener into the flavoured ones, which raises the carb content, with the sort of easily digested carbs that the body processes into glucose just as fast as it can process sugar.

Personally I look at total carbohydrate content not "sugar".
Never buy low fat because fat provides satiety.
Aim for below 4% carbohydrate.
This one looks ok.. https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/fage-total-5-fat-natural-yoghurt/053227-26599-26600

I know that feeling of loitering and indecision and peering at the tiny print on each pot for the nutritional info.
The one you have chosen isn't a bad option but I'm another vote for full fat/creamy Greek style natural yoghurt. I buy the 1kg Milbona tubs from Lidl (dark blue labelling not the light blue, which is low fat) and it is delicious and made with British milk, so ticks lots of boxes for me. The fat keeps you feeling sated and provides slow release energy and it makes it taste less acidic as @Leadinglights mentioned. I had mine with a few rasps and blueberries, mixed seeds and cinnamon this morning. Haven't had any for a few days as I had run out and it was lovely to be back on my regular breakfast yoghurt this morning.

Thank you for your responses, they really are appreciated. Morrisons did do a full fat version of this, which is probably the better option for future purchase but at least I know this isn’t terrible.

It’s quite hard to buy full fat food when I feel like I’ve been conditioned for many years to always buy low fat but I know that’s not always the right choice now.

Oh - ey up - I lived in Barnsley - grew up there and my brother and sister still live there.
We lived on Farm Road, moved into a brand new council house back in the 1950s.
I'd recommend the full fat yoghurts too - we need protein and natural fats to survive.

I always buy low fat.
The difference in carbs is actually very minimal.

I use low fat Fage 2% fat, which has the same carb content as 0% fat I think. The zero fat one isn’t that nice.

Fage yoghurt is the only brand that used to be available decades ago in Greece and when they started selling it in Waitrose in the 1970s, one could always get the sheep's milk version which you rarely see anywhere these days. It's really tangy and was always served with a dollop of local honey at breakfast time in Greece! Bloomin lovely. It's mainly ordinary cows milk today.
