Hi all
I'm a bit new to this so please bare with me.
Been diagnosed type2 on the 19th Feb this year after been ill since december last year. Just had my first appointment with my nurse last Friday and things seem to be getting there, but my head is still going at 200 mph with what i can/cannot do. Apart from that i'm feeling really good seeing as the tablets with a change in diet seem to be doing the trick.

Just needed to say hi to all and to see i'm not on my own with all the questions

Cheers :D

Hi and welcome to the forum Fudge, dont panic hun we have all been in that initial daze at the beginning of diagnosis, have yourself a good look around the forum get acquainted, ask anything you need to nothing is a silly question. Can I ask are you diet and exercise or on medication?

Hi Steff2010
i'm on diet and meds atm 80mg Gliclazide but they are thinking of putting me on Metformin at some point as my sugar is still a bit high. As for exercise i do quit a lot a work with lifting steel and running around like a loon, but that going to be my next step, but i'm also got a amputation below right knee from an accident 20 years ago so think its going to be back to gym again

Hi Fudge,

They had me on gliclazide for a few weeks too, before being switched on to the metformin (2x500mg). After changing my diet and exercising more I am currently off the metformin too. I've an HbA1c test coming up tomorrow and a review next week which will tell me whether I have made any further progress though!

I think that you'll find that this forum is really useful if you have any questions. Another thing worth checking out is that the NHS runs an X-pert course which is pretty good at giving you a starting point. I was able to get on one with a month of diagnosis and found it really useful. It is one afternoon per week for 6 weeks.

Good luck with everything!

Andy

Thanks Andy

I'm liking the forum already lots of info and stories that I find really usefull.

hope all goes well with the review
