ALMOST a fifth of Isle of Wight children aged between ten and 11, and more than one in ten four and five year olds, are classed as obese and more than half do not exercise enough.
According to data collated by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust?s school nurse team, who weighed and measured reception class and Year 6 children, childhood obesity on the Island has remained in line with the national average.
The data revealed 10.4 per cent of children aged between four and five, and 18 per cent of ten and 11 year olds, were obese.
