A CLEOBURY Mortimer company has backed an initiative to reduce salt in foods.

Kudos Blends, which makes and supplies baking powders and raising agents, was a sponsor of National Salt Awareness Week last week.

The firm was also invited to be represented at a reception on salt reduction at the House of Commons.

The business, based at Old Station Business Park, is assisting research into reducing salt in the food industry and its potassium bicarbonate baking powder is helping reduce salt in bakery products.

Steph Skellern, of Kudos Blends, gave a presentation at the Advances in Salt and Sodium Reduction Conference in London in February, where the company was invited by the Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) to sponsor National Salt Awareness Week and attend the Commons reception.
