Following on from my 2 links below I finally went to Specsavers yesterday to have my sight test done for some new glasses - I've not had new glasses for 6 years so it's a real shock how different the lenses in my current/old glasses and the lenses in my new glasses are.

High bgls
the optician frightened me when said that any high blood sugars will burst the vessels in my eyes - my blood sugars are always all over the place

If you have repeated very high spikes multiple times, or you have constant very high BG over a protracted period - then yes it does cause that damage, it is precisely what Diabetic Retinopathy is, Gill ! But you already know you haven't got diabetic retinopathy because you have your eyes photographed every 12 months by the retinopathy service, same as we all do!

Thank you @trophywench also please can I ask you what you would class as very high BGLs?

Gill are you making sure that you have your annual retinal screening?

My last diabetic eye screening was done at Specsavers where they saw a problem and referred me to the eye specialist

My daughter was 16+ for about 4 hours the other afternoon. No point stressing though, can’t do any more about it than we did at the time. If that happened regularly it would be something to worry about but it doesn’t. High blood sugar does cause damage but it takes time so if you go up briefly but then come down again it's not going to make any difference for that short time.
