I’ve had my first cold in over a year, but it’s been prolonged and horrible! Does anyone know whether catching viruses are more intense if you are diabetic? I’m aware blood sugar levels can rise with illness, and catching flu can be risky, so I had my flu jab last autumn. Any advice, experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

I find when I am unwell, my blood sugars rise and when my blood sugars rise, any cough, sniff, ache, … feels worse.
So, for me, diabetes has not made colds worse, high blood sugars do. If I keep my levels down (for me, this means extra insulin), illnesses are no worse than they were before I had diabetes.

Well do cathrd colds easily but I've always have done

Had my first cold in over 2 years just the other week, although it made my BG's on the higher side I recovered the quickest out of the 3 of us and was less affected overall so I wouldn't say diabetes makes it more intense
