Hypos versus cold weather, Question is = can the cold weather cause lower blood sugar levels,as i have just got back from work and Health n safety sent a letter out saying a man had a mild hypo whilst hanger doors were open and moving A/C outside, temp was -4 at the time and it took over an hour to get the plane outside for some reason. i dont know the mans regime, but he was ok after sugar intake and no hosp visit, Could the cold react or not,ive never noticed any diff,i work night shift and its alot colder than the days.lol

Yep it can do...

When I worked in dog kennels during the winter I was always more susceptible to hypo's more so in the afternoon... Another thing that I found, if I didn't have something hot to eat at dinner time, this made afternoon hypo's more likely..

Cold weather can increase your metabolism as you burn more energy to keep warm - this could therefore mean your insulin becomes more efficient.

over the past three days I have had atleast 2 hypos a day its been driving me absolutely mad as I havent been able to explain them I havent had a hypo for over 3 weeks could this be because of the cold weather and how can I stop it???? It still surprises me what effects bs...

....more than likely the cold weather, I've had more the last couple of days due to the cold weather...might have to reduce my Basals

I dont work outside so in general not really shivered the past couple of days maybe reason for morning hypos though when I get in my car waiting for it to warm up.... Theres so much you have to think about :/

Why does the cold weather effect your bs???

In my opinion, your body has to work harder to keep you warm when it is very cold and therefore using more of your bodily sugars hence the hypo.

After 46yrs you would have thought i would have heard about this. The last couple of days i have been working away, no ct heating in a grade 2 listed building & 1 c---p electric htr for the whole building. It didnt get above 0 deg in over 24 hrs. Hard days work & i was below 2 bg ! Ooops 😱😱 Better today HOME ! So cold does do u in !
