Recently my bloods went up, I think I might have had a cold or virus, didn't get much symptoms though. I began wondering if it's because I stopped my Metformin 5 weeks ago, but the levels seem to be returning to normal now. I read cold can make fasting blood go up 1-2 points and after food 2-4 mmol/L, just wondering do other people experience similar rises.

Any sort of infection, stress and all sorts of things can increase your level from a little bit to quite a lot or doesn't affect some people. Sounds like a likely explanation.

Some find an illness can often cause raises before, they have any symptoms.
Yes, this happens to me.

Hope you feel better soon.

I had the flu back in April and saw my BG hitting highs of 9, 10 and 13 during the illness and 9s and 10s in the two weeks following it. I am now back where I was prior to the flu but I am convinced that those highs were responsible for my only seeing a reduction of one in my HbA1c (from 47 to 46).

Yes, this has happened to me a few times, even before I realised I had a cold.

Illnesses certainly can raise BG levels… but I find my body/diabetes is a bit contrary/fickle about whether it decides to raise BG levels or not!

Sometimes I can feel really ill, and there’s no perceptible wobble… but other times I get a big hike in BG levels, wonder what’s up and only afterwards do I start to get the feelings of an incoming cold!
