Looks like my local Co-op has stopped stocking Burgen S&L bread :( I asked the counter assistant and she confirmed that the range had been changed. First it was Black Farmer sausages that went, now this! 😡 Means I'll have to do a monthly Burgen-run up to the big Sainsburys. Today I had to settle for an Allisons seeded thing - very soft and falls apart when I try to butter it. I bet it goes dry in three days as well, and it's higher carb.

Are they picking on me? Email to Head Office on its way! 😱 😉

Here's a handy hint to stop your bread from going dry...

keep it in a bucket of water.

Next week's Handy Hint: how to prevent Cold Callers

That'll make it even harder to spread the butter on it! 😱 🙄
but it won't be dry which is what you were complaining about! Honestly...some people ...you'll want jam on it next 😛

Bummer! I have to go to the big Tesco if I want burgen. I managed to stock up on lidl rolls at the weekend. It seems the people of Rayleigh and Eastwood haven't discovered the delights of them yet and there is always loads when I go.

Oooh, jam, yes please, er, I mean, no, far too high GI!!
Our co-op ( which is very small, we are town of only 3000 people) sells Burgen, both the large and small loaves, and it's just started the Warburtons high protein rolls and thins. It also stocks a huge range of pulses, whole grains, nuts, etc. from a local company. Maybe we have a high proportion of people with diabetes living here. No wonder the surgery nurse always looks frazzled.

It's a smallish Co-op, but a lot of things appear to be changing currently because of the re-branding and getting autumn/winter stock in. They've been clearing a lot of the shelves over the past week or so, and started to introduce new stuff. I don't expect the Burgen to come back any time soon :( It's so annoying because 95% of the bread they sell is processed cr*p that's all basically the same stuff! :(

They probably need the space for all the mince pies etc they'll be stocking over the next two months.

Have you tried Debbie & Andrew sausages? Only 0.8g each. Got some from Morrisons. No idea if Co-Op sell them.

Also someone's prob noticed this as well but the lidl near me doesn't do protein rolls anymore xxx

Debbie & Andrews aren't made by Debbie and Andrew any more (I think it's Northern Foods now) but Heck! sausages are.

Our Lidl had them last week when I went in. However, I didn't buy any, nor the time before, because since they reduced the size of them, our branch obviously hasn't worked out that they need to reduce the cooking time, and they looked like you could use them for house building.

Oh really? I know there not always the most appealing thing lol but always seems a better bread although I agree they are sometimes burnt and sometimes doughy lol xxx

I love the high meat content sausages, and great for my levels too. Both of those are a little bit steep to buy, but if I ever spot them in the reduced section I pick them up and get them in the freezer.

As for Burgen, I've found it in my local Spar before, and wasn't really expecting to find it somewhere so small. Not all Co-op's have withdrawn it though, as I've found it in one in Wales not two weeks ago. Hope you can find it buddy, and avoid that long trip up to the big shop.

Cheers SH 🙂 I'll just need to get it when I replenish my Black Farmer sausage supply - bought 30 last time up there! 😱 :D Yum!

I've bought Burgen in Morrisons before today (as well as Heck!, Black Farmer, D&A and Edwards of Conwy sausages)

Is it worth a letter to the manager, if you're a regular customer?

Woohoo!!!
