Just a friendly reminder to forum cyborgs and gadget-nuts that this weekend the clocks ‘fall back‘ (or should that be ‘autumn back’ in the UK?)

Don’t forget to adjust the time on your BG meter / pump / CGM / hyperintelligentpandimensionalrobotpancreas

🙂

I totally would have forgot about my backup meter, only use it maybe every week or so, but I will do it when they change

Now my pump is controlled by my phone, the pump stays in the same time zone as the phone.
No need to tweak it for daylight saving or travel.

My CGM/Libre/Miaomiao combo is also phone controlled and timezoned.

My heating gets its time from the internet so I only have remember the clock in the kitchen (aka the microwave) and the clock in the bedroom (aka the wireline phone).

My BG meter has been out by an hour all summer. It has not caused any problems so I am not too concerned if it corrects itself or whether it becomes 2 hours out.

Love this point of the year me!

Thanks Mike
We will no doubt be noticing various clocks and radios around the house that need altering for quite a few days!!

I’ve never seen the point of British Summer Time but, UK is in BST for 7 months of the year & only in GMT for 5: has always annoyed me since I became interested in Astronomy in my teens; all times in Astronomy, for eclipses etc. are GMT & I’ve gotten the timings of events wrong because I forgot about factoring in BST! 🙄

I’ve encountered arguments from both sides about always staying in BST or GMT & came to conclusion that BST is not necessary: the UK CAN’T stay in BST all year round as the the mornings become too dark in Winter & GMT HAS to be restored to avoid accidents, & fatalities, from things like early morning school runs etc; opposite argument for longer daylight hours in Summer doesn’t hold as true especially as around 21st/22nd June, Summer Solstice, it never really gets dark anyway so, what difference does an extra hour make?🙄 Plus I HATE the hour I lose every year when BST starts!:(

Thanks for the reminder! I never forget the day of clocks forward/back but I always forget to change the time on my pump! Obviously, I have a mental block because I’ve had a pump for years yet still forget :D

I do find the clock change can mess with my sugars a bit so i’ll be testing extra over the weekend.

I never bother changing the BG meter since I don't use it to tell the time lol.

for some though they use a meter with a bolus calculator and each time block can have a different insulin to carb ratio and correction factor so things could go very wrong xx
