My understanding is that from last week - we are, mikey - ALL carers paid and unpaid, whether they have an official 'handle' or not. So that includes eg eldest daughter as her MiL rebroke a hip not long ago and well smashed her femur into the bargain after which they got her home but has to have carers several times a day as can't weight bear yet, so no chance whatever of her getting into the kitchen, getting the cooked dinners eldest has provided (used to mass catering so plenty of plates!) out of the fridge and microwaving them herself as yet, younger daughter who is having to do all our running about at the mo for a change cos big sis usually does it as her kids are now adults so she's been able to but now got MiL duties (cos SiL's bro doesn't help), and obviously includes folk like yourself and eg Ditto, whose 86 yo mum she lives with - plus whoever it happens to apply to!

I clap for everyone on the frontline. Anyone who puts their life on the line for the good of others. My son for instance is one of the silent majority. Works in the freezer section of a massive Co-op distribution center, filling lorries that supply co-ops around the country with food.

Yes - we will certainly be clapping for home carers, as well as all of the many people in so many different ways who are doing difficult jobs so well, - and for the many who are providing care and so many acts of kindness to help others get through these difficult days.
