Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I am type 2 diabetic and found out from my results that I had CKD reading 57 spoke to my doctor i am 71 and he said most older people have kidneys that don't function as well and there is nothing to worry about and that is why I was not told until I was sent results of HBaI c and cholesterol which are 4.4 and 48 .I know i don't drink enough and I spoke to Kidney association and Pharmacist and they said nothing to worry about its an age thing and readings vary.
Then you read on the internet about taking supplements to stop diabetes going into CKD or progressing.I finding it bewildering.

I can only recommend that you start to make it a habit to drink a mug of water each time you go to the bathroom - I find that with normal numbers I don't need as much water - colour of urine indicates that.
I get normal numbers by restricting the amount of carbohydrate I eat, relying on protein and fat with low carb veges and salad stuff - I used a glucose meter to check that I was not eating too many carbs and spiking after meals. The kidneys are impacted by high blood glucose, as they have to deal with the excessively sweet blood and fluids which are outside their normal processing levels.
