Hi everyone

Not a new diabetic just new to this forum. Was just wondering if anyone takes a cinnamon supplement? I have researched that both Cinnamon and chromium are really good at helping to control blood sugar. any comments welcome or any other tips to help!

My levels are really high and don't really want to take even more meds.

I'm a newbie...both to this and having recently been diagnosed. I know you want help, but ty, as I'm learning all the time. I attended the Desmond program v recently n the advice on the supplement issue is, it's ok as a back up, but the best "attack" are diet n exercise. Apologies, I suspect you know this. Welcome, you are in a great place.

Hi Lexiro, welcome to the forum 🙂 If your levels are really high I doubt whether any supplements are going to have much impact, unfortunately :( Are you sure you are addressing all the other factors that may be causing your high levels? What medications are you taking for your diabetes? Have you used a blood glucose monitor to determine which food choices you tolerate well, and what you need to reduce or avoid in your diet? Apologies if you have already tried all these things. How long have you been diagnosed?

Hi, if you want to try cinnamon make sure it is Ceylon Cinnamon, the ordinary stuff bought in supermarkets contains more coumarin which can damage the liver, I get mine from a whole foods supplier, and it seems to have helped lower my BG a little, I take one tsp a day mixed into a protein shake.

This thread is a few years old and the OP no longer visits the forum unfortunately.

Thank you @TarnishedHalo for this observation. Even though you've latched onto a dormant thread - I did not know that there are less safe substitutes for Cinnamon. I like cinnamon a lot and will be careful about where we get it from in the future.

PS: I'm lucky enough to have spent 5 weeks in Sri Lanka on an extended holiday. I loved the place and the people and saw many unusual herbs and spices growing - including bringing home cinnamon we saw being taken off a tree. Their chillies were too much for me though and that made some local meals challenging!
