Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Fatigue is a classical symptom of hyperglycemia, but the relationship between chronic fatigue and diabetes has not been systematically studied. We investigated prevalence, impact and potential determinants of chronic fatigue in patients with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (DM1).

Research Design and Methods Out of 324 random selected DM1 outpatients, 214 participated in this cross-sectional observational study. Participants were compared with age- and sex-matched population based controls. Chronic fatigue, functional impairments, current health status, comorbidity, diabetes-related factors and fatigue-related cognitions and behaviors were assessed with questionnaires, HbA1c values and comorbidity with medical records.

I wonder if all their thyroids were working well?

I ask because although the usual threshold (TSH) is anything under 6 is OK, my Endo (and this was the 'ordinary' Endo who stands in for the specialist Diabetes Consultant I usually see, so he brings more to the other Endo bits than just D, and I trust him for both - which is more than I can say for some of the odd bods who sometimes manifest at my clinic LOL) wants a diabetic's TSH to be no more than 2 and not less than 1 !

Hence he instantly wrote to my GP to increase my Thyroxine.
