I hope we have all remembered to make sure we have enough Meds to cover the festive period.

Oh yeah Im not gonna go through what i did on the last bank hols, shortage of strips was a nightmare hehe...So ive put an order of 100 in for next week shall see how that goes down with the pharmacy 😱

Tanks Donald for the reminder

I'm leaving it until the last weekend before christmas to pop one in for all I'll need so it gives me time to argue if needed. I'm sure they won't object to dishing some bits out early, but you never know which way they're going to jump.🙂

I'm probably due to run out of everything on Christmas Day, so it looks like I'd better put in an early request!

Not Sure long surgery will be closed possibly closed on the Fri 23 then open on Tue 27 New Year could be the same closed Fri 30 open Tue third Jan but different surgery's could set different times. I'm only guessing

I was going to remind everyoe about making sure they have enough meds, but you beat me to it. I must check mine too and see if I need to top up.

Have to admit everytime i see this thread i see sugary instead of surgery 😛

NO Donald just my diabetic mind working overtime

Must admit when I first wrote this thread I had put sugary a couple times😱 only realised when I used the spell checker😛

Slightly complicated for me this year in that quite a lot I my repeat items changed last month (insulin/test strips/requirement for syringes no pen needles) but my surgery haven't quite caught up yet 🙄

Don't you need to have all the MDI stuff as standbys Mike? Or would you use the syringe to get insulin from your normal pump supply?

I do have some old Humalog (and Lantus) carts as a backup, but in the longer term I don't feel that's an ideal failsafe. You are not supposed to have pens 'in use' in the fridge, but I will only ever need these supplies occasionally to firefight highs caused by poss site issues/sustained highs seemingly unresponsive to pump correction. That being the case I can foresee starting a Humalog cart for 5-10u, then the rest of it going off when levels settle. Conversely I could use carts (and later, the in use NovoRapid vial) with a syringe more gradually.

This hasn't been suggested to me, but it seems the best way forward to make efficient use of expensive meds.

Thanks!! I didn't even think about this!!! =) *stocks up*
