DIABETES UK is spreading the word to around 6,000 people living with diabetes in the Vale of Glamorgan to be mindful of their condition.
The charity recognises following a healthy lifestyle over Christmas is difficult but is making those aware with diabetes that the condition shouldn’t mean missing out on traditional festive foods.
People with diabetes or their friends and family shouldn’t buy the ‘diabetic’ foods as ‘diabetic’ chocolate or Christmas cake as these offer no special benefit. These foods can contain just as much fat and calories as the ordinary versions, can have a laxative effect and can be expensive.
