?My name is Chris and I have Type 1 diabetes.?
Canadian rower Chris Jarvis wasn?t afraid to speak these words to a group of about 20 kids during his visit to Welland Arena, Saturday.
?I?ve been living with it for over 18 years,? he said, while showing his insulin pump which monitors his blood sugar level.
The insulin pump attaches to his side and controls the flow of insulin in his body, giving him a constant reading of his blood sugar level. To most people, the pump might look like a pager or a music player.
