Hi everyone. New here but no stranger to T1D. I’ve been approved for a pump and just wondering what the best system is? I currently use Libre sensors but I believe they’re not compatible with any pumps yet. Is that true?

When choosing a pump, the best pump is the one that satisfies the most of your criteria.
The common advice is to first find out what options are available at your clinic. Then watch some YouTube videos to find out their differences.
For example, do you care about size? Do you want the option for closed loop? Do you want a patch or tubed pump? Do you want it managed via a Pdm, phone app or on the pump? ...

There’s no ‘best’ really @FranMc in the same way there’s no best insulin. The best is just what suits you, what works with your lifestyle, and what you prefer.

What pumps does your clinic offer? Are you wanting to loop with your pump?

The best pump for you is the one that suits what you want from your pump.
First and foremost it is worth finding out which ones your CCG offer. This varies a great deal, as each team have contracts with different manufacturers who then provide training and support to the DSNs.

once you know what is on offer, come back to us and there is bound to be someone on here using them and we can tell you the pros and cons of those that we are familiar with.

Welcome to the forum @FranMc

Wow! That’s a huge question. Probably a little lime asking what the ‘best’ car is… You might get a lot of suggestions, but really it would depend on what you needed - a nippy runaround? an offroad workhorse? flashy sports car? or big people carrier?

The good news is that for a first pump, there really isn’t a bad choice! All of them offer the main benefits of continuous insulin infusion (fully flexible basal pattern, bolus calculators, more accurate and precise dosing, smaller and ‘always available’ corrections.

Other than that I guess it would just be a question of trying to work out which of the other options seem most important - a remote control? Integration with CGM / hybrid closed loop semi-automation? Tubed or tubeless? Size / form factor?

Libre2 isn’t officially supported as a component in hybrid closed loops, but some have used open source solutions (eg Android APS) along with a bridging solution like xDrip to create their own off label solution with the help of the ‘wearenotwaiting’ online community.
