There isn't such a thing, what's suitable for one may not be suitable for the next as we all have individual tolerances, if it's chocolate your interested in darker chocolate is good, I like Aldi's moser Roth 85% and Lindt 90% and they are lower carb which is what you need to watch out for
xx
It is also not legal to market products as such.
Some products that are labelled sugar free actual have sweetners that can have laxative effects. They usally have warnings in small print on the packaging.
I personally don't like the after taste of many sugar free products.
The diabetic chocolate doubles as a laxative if you eat too much - it also tastes foul.
Far better to have a small portion of a high quality chocolate. If you don’t like dark chocolate, I find the Hotel Chocolat chocolates don’t put my blood sugar up as long as you don’t choose one full of caramel. They’re rich and creamy but not too sweet.
Hi @Helen27 and welcome to the forum. Agree with the others. There is no answer definitive answer to your question and beware of anything or anybody who says there is.
Read around the forum and you will find that different people use different approaches to working out what their system can cope with in terms of carbohydrate intake and adjust what they eat accordingly. What suits one will not suit another.
For example, what suits me is not to have desserts as such. If I want something to finish a meal I would have some cheese and maybe a small cracker but I would never offer that as the perfect way forward for everybody.
I agree. I just have regular chocolate - but not very much... and not very often 🙂
Way back when it was still legal, some well meaning relatives bought me some ‘diabetic chocolate’ from boots. It was really nasty, and gave the most horrendous wind after even a few small squares.
I’d much rather just have the real deal while out doing some vigorous walking 🙂
Lidl do a 95 percent chocolate, and lower percentages so you can work up to it. you can use it grated from the fridge or a single square to nibble.
It is handy when you make yourself something for dessert - that is the only way to get something safe which is not made sickly sweet - 'normal' levels of sweetness are really too high once you get used to tasting the flavour rather than the sugar.
