We went for a Chinese last night to get over our lovely neighbours having their flight cancelled from the UK. Flippin French strike!

This was my first Chinese since diagnosis, so I looked at the menu in a whole new light. It wasn't easy, in fact it was impossible to make good choices.

I didn't have the complimentary Sangria (all sugar) or the prawn crackers (ok I just had one)
I had a couple of glasses of red wine, when I would normally have had the best part of a bottle.
Prawn cocktail to start.
Spare ribs (dry, no sugary coating)
3 different types of main, curry type dishes.
With rice and chips ( I honestly had a tiny amount)
Ice cream (1 scoop)
Complimentary brandy, which I thought was a better choice than liqueur.

My reading after 1.5 hours 11.7
Could have been a lot worse I suppose, but still bad. A shame because Chinese here is so cheap.

I've had some lovely Chinese meals in Spain. Haven't even attempted Chinese food since diagnosis. It's one of the worst types for us. I do make stir frys though but without noodles or rice.

I have found that prawn crackers arent too bad (for me anyway). I make chinese chicken curry at home the prawn crackers I buy to go with it are 17.9g of carbs for half a big bag, and probably have about 1/3 of a bag. I have them instead of rice.

You are making me feel guilty now. What about "everything in moderation"?

Love Chinese but the Americanized style we have is just too laden with sugars.....

Moderation is good. Easy to do if making it yourself, but when eating out & it's all spread out in front of you makes moderation a tad more difficult.:D
