So as many of you know on here I usually wake up high after having half an omelette from the chinese on a saturday night, I'm not sure whether to just cut it out completely or try having something else, problem is I'm not very good at carb counting for takeaway foods etc, advice please and thanks 🙂 x

This might seem counter-intuitive, but I think the problem here is you're actually eating fewer carbs but more protein which can in some situations be much harder to bolus for.

In your situation I'd be tempted to look more at maybe a small portion of noodles or rice with something in sauce as although that's higher carb, theoretically that may be easier to bolus for and avoid morning issues.

Deus makes a good point about the protein. However, what is the highest reading you have had after the Chinese? I suspect what you call high might not bother most of us.

The highest I've woken to was 10 but it's been around 8 for the past few weeks I think, I'm getting fed up of half an omelette too to be fair but just not sure what else to go for x

I get feed up with eating the same things at times, my husband and son tend to eat the meals on the same days of the week. Though latley that has changed slight as son is working differnt hours. I have been know to either buy or get something out of freezer to eat then by the evening I don't fancy.

Thinking about just seeing if I can get some things at Tesco and doing it myself at home x

fast food omelettes are likely to contain a batter to bulk it up, so a dose of flour or other starch.
It is far far better to make it yourself - very simple cooking and you know what is in it.
You might even go for a soufflé omelette - rather spectacularly fluffy, very filling and no hidden carbs.

Yes I make omelette's regularly and no there is nothing in their omelettes, but I didn't want to miss out on a takeaway as was told I wouldn't have to x

Do you get individual meals or do you share. Asking as we don't eat them that often mainly when other half away as he doesn't eat them, my son and I share the dishes between us. Then you could try by having a small amount.

What happens to your blood sugar after eating your own omelettes @Kaylz? Are you having anything else with the takeaway, any sauces or likewise that may have sugar in them? Can you ask at the Chinese takeaway what they put into their omelettes or any other dishes you choose for your own peace of mind?

Keep going, you are doing brilliantly and there's absolutely no reason to stop enjoying a takeaway for a treat every so often 🙂

I'm fine after my own, and fine after 2 scrambled, 1 fried or half a dish of baked eggs, all I'm having with half an omelette is 1 or 2 slices of bread which I know I'm fine with as have 2 slices most days for dinner and a little bit of mayonnaise, and nope no sauces from the Chinese, I don't mind the odd higher reading but it's getting frustrating having it every Sunday, think I might just get some lamb kebabs from Tesco and have it with a mini naan bread on Saturday and see if that helps, my mum tried blaming the 1 vodka and diet coke I had with it last week until I pointed out that why had it been happening every week when I haven't had any alcohol what so ever for the past 4 weeks, I just feel like sometimes I'm missing out, I know I can just adjust when I feel like it if I want a cake or something which I really do want but none of the packeted cakes in this town have carbs printed per cake and I don't really want to get home, weigh it and find out I need tons of insulin for it lol x
