The researchers studied their level of viral shedding, the number of virus particles that a child emits through coughing, sneezing, or talking that are then spread throughout the environment.

Every child tested positive for the Covid-19 Omicron variant. Of the 76 children, including 41 seven to 12-year-olds, 52 were vaccinated.

Children who had been vaccinated were infectious for three days, the same duration as children who were not vaccinated.

Back in March 2023 The World Health Organization confirmed what we already knew, that healthy children and adolescents don't need a shot.

The story says "may not". That they should be a low priority, which makes sense. Things like MMR and the HPV vaccine are much more important. (And really, why are we still not vaccinating against Chicken Pox?)

Children are still dying from it. Just in very small numbers, but these are largely vaccine-preventable deaths so it feels wrong to me. On the other hand the vaccines aren't cheap so maybe it's fine (you'd need to vaccinate a lot of children to prevent each death). I still worry more about the long term issues: it's known that this virus can cause long term harms of various kinds which can be reduced with vaccination, and we're denying that protection to children and actively encouraging them to be infected.

Which is a bizarre public health policy, though I suppose it's one we also follow with Chicken Pox (part of why we don't vaccinate children is so that older people will still have some exposure to it).

Lets not forget naturally acquired immunity (like just about everyone seemed to do during the pandemic), if we ignore natural immunity then we ignore vaccines too. Also lets not forget innate prior cross protection from things like common colds too. They should all be part of the strategy to deal with viruses etc.

Many kids (and adults) caught covid in the 2020, and as a result, will have good long term naturally acquired immunity (cheaper than a vaccine too).

A study reveals that children who receive the Covid vaccine remain infectious for a similar duration as non-vaccinated individuals. This suggests that while vaccination reduces the severity of illness, it may not impact the period during which individuals can transmit the virus. Further research is needed for a comprehensive understanding.
