Chia seeds

I bought some of these seeds but not sure what to use them for. I use linseeds ( milled) on my breakfast yogurt but don’t the chia has some kind of jelly-ing agent in. Any pointers would be welcome.

I used to leave them overnight soaking in Almond milk. They turned into some sort of gelatinous frog spawn type thing. Rather nice with some peanut butter in it!

I have put them in soups and stews and my breakfast yoghurt particularly if I use defrosted frozen fruit as they soak up the juice and prevent my yoghurt from being horribly runny when I mix it all up with the berries and juice.
I also make a drink with shia seeds and psyllium husk in a glass of water with a dash or ACV and a dash or balsamic vinegar and usually about an inch of diet cola (I know I am weird) I give it a stir and then let it stand for a few minutes to absorb som of the water and then give it another stir and drink it and then rinse the glass out with more water and drink that so that I don't lose any that is stuck to the inside of the glass.

I once bought milled chia seeds and found that they went "fishy" smelling quite quickly ... I am guessing the Omega 3 Fatty acids, so I always buy whole ones now as they keep really well and don't smell or taste of anything, but work wonders with my gut and bowel routine..

I saw a method to make pots of jamlike stuff using fruit and chia seed. It advised small amounts at a time as it had no preservative, so to be kept in the fridge. I think that the seed was broken up before mixing with the finely sliced or crushed fruit in one option, but others just mixed, and others blended everything together. Some added sweetener or gums for extra thickening - I never got around to trying out any of them as when faced with fresh strawberries .......

Thank you, I occasionally buy fruit compote for my breakfast yogurt but it does make the yogurt a bit runny so I will try using them the night before . The drink doesn’t sound very appetising rebrascora -I think I’ll stick to carbonated water.
I have to use them -it was such a performance buying them -they were lose in a dispenser in the supermarket and nearly all gone, so I tipped the dispenser to get the last but they statically clung to the container before shooting out all in one go and mostly went on the floor :D

I buy chia seeds in a plastic pot it's much better. They have a weird cling even after soaking to washing up clothes as well. But they can be doaked in milk or yogurt overnight and are really nice. There is a fancy chain of coffee shops who mix chia seeds with coconut cream and layer this on top or under yogurt. Quite delicious. But I read somewhere that 15g per day is a max. Don't know the reason but they are quite cloggy in the system

I think eating too many in one go can give some people bloating or digestive upset, but up to 20g twice a day if people want is OK but introducing them gradually just to check you are OK.

I add about 10g on top mixed oats, large oats and steel cut. Soak them in almond milk for a few hours and that’s my desert. Haven’t got bored of them yet!

They can become a solid plug in the gut, I have read, and some people have required operations to remove them. They should be hydrated before they are eaten.

15mg in a big soy flat white coffee - essential start to the day.

Fair disclosure: In my experience, nobody in the world besides me actually likes this 🙂

Eddy Edson, you put me off at the mention of soya milk :D.

Taste and texture like full-fat cow milk, except better. No more processed (NOVA level 3). Similar protein. No saturated fat. Lots more of most minerals, omega-3, various vitamins (except B-12, obv).

=> Overall, better taste, texture & nutrition.

Perfect with chia seeds 🙂
