So is cheese ok if low carbing? Am trying to lose weight and lower cholesterol too so is it a no go?

Cheese is great if you're low carbing. And though it wouldn't be great from the weight/cholesterol point of view if you were eating lots of carbs as well, a lot of people here have found that if they don't eat much in the way of carbs, they don't put on weight or raise their cholesterol when they eat cheese instead.

I eat tons of cheese, mainly in cooking. If you are low carbing, then fat won't have the same affect as with a high carb diet. I lost a lot of weight & didn't stop eating cheese. My weight remains stable now, but I'm happy with it.🙂

Good to know! Thanks Mark. What about the effect on cholesterol?

No affect on Cholesterol. It's carbs that raise cholesterol, fat has very little effect. Problem is there is too much emphasis on 'total cholesterol' figures when it's the ratio of LDL/HDL/Trigs that's important to heart health. I've been told my ratios are spot on, hence I've never been offered statins.
