Hi I have had type 2 since December 2018 (so really new and still trying to get my blood sugar levels below 10 lol) last October 2019 i got diagnosed with charcot foot and was wondering if anyone has had the same condition.
Thanks

@Flower springs to mind, in fact she’s just written a blog about it, here.

Hello @PatchGFC welcome to the forum.

How bad is your Charcot foot? I ask because I am at risk but poor @Flower
has it bad. She has set up a blog telling the world what she is going through,
I see @Robin has just posted with the details, please read it.

Hi it's not great and am in a boot hoping it will settle down. There is only 1 degree between the 2 feet atm.

Mine is 2 degree`s atm please keep an eye on it, I was in a Moon boot last year.
Broke my right foot didn`t even feel it so be careful.

That's what happened to me last summer I didn't even know. I'm going to buy an infrared non contact thermometer to help do it myself

Hi Patch - I don't have Charcot foot and can't help you with that, sorry. You all have my sympathy, but that isn't any help.

However - there is shedloads of help & support available on here (even from us non sufferers) if you want it to try and get your blood glucose readings into single figures and more likely to stay there - do you want that help and support?

Hi @PatchGFC ,

Sorry to read you have been diagnosed with Charcot Foot.

Do everything you possibly can to get your blood glucose into normal range and as stable as possible. Follow the advice from the podiatry team or whoever is seeing you. Charcot can settle down and behave itself with the correct timely care and if your foot is still intact shape wise then that is a good start. It's vital to be super vigilant for any changes you notice as things can deteriorate very rapidly as it can flare up if it feels that way. If you are in a boot and being monitored I hope you get a good outcome that will keep you safe ongoing.

It is a drawn out affair treating and living with Charcot Foot and I really hope your foot settles down and behaves itself for the future.

Hi thank you but I was confused why I was in a boot for 6 months then 3 months in a cast now back in the boot. My blood levels are not great but I'm getting there

Over the years I’ve been in both casts and boots, Using a boot enabled me to keep a close eye on my skin and try to avoid ulcers and blisters. I was in casts when I had active Charcot and fractures. I’m in a cast now for ongoing fractures.

There’s probably more to it for choosing when a boot or cast is used but I’ve had a mixture. I hope you can get into some custom made shoes or custom insoles asap.

I think that is the next step hopefully in a couple of months. Also can I ask if you or anyone got PIP as I have been turned down twice now and am going to a tribunal.
