Morning everyone,
I need to change my phone & I'm not tech minded at all. Will i have to download the app again on new phone or will it automatically go onto new phone when all of my data is transferred.
Thank you.
I changed my phone only yesterday, as my 2 year contract was coming to an end. The mobile phone shop transferred all my data including my apps, from my old phone to the new one. My new phone looks and acts just like the old one, except it doesn't need constantly charging!

I don't think my answer was as helpful as you and I would have hoped, as I don't know the answer to your questions. My guess is - probably! I just sat there for 90 minutes answering questions and the guy in the shop did all the work. If it takes an expert that long, I dread to think how long it would have taken a non technical body like me! Best advice I was given was by a family member was - let the expert do it, so I did! I know they had to go online to Vodafone. But all bar one of my passwords carried over - I just had to change one when I got home - and I was asked for my email address.
If it’s an iPhone, you can just put the old and new phones side by side, follow the new phone set up instructions and the new phone will copy all apps, photos, notes etc over to your new phone. Android phones probably do the same but I’m an iOS person so I’m not sure.
From memory, all the really secure apps like online banking, which require multi factor authentication required me to sign in again and I had to set up Face ID with this phone, which was fun but time well spent because all the secure app use Face ID now.
Who’s your provider? They should have tech support to talk you through it. It took my phone about 5 minutes to transfer everything so no time at all.
They do. As you note, for some things you need to do something special (for Google Authenticator, if you use that (for 2-factor authentication) you need to export on the old phone which shows a QR code which you can import on the new phone).
For LibreLink you won't keep the recent data but you can keep scanning the same sensor once you've signed in to LibreView. (I think that's how it worked, anyway.)

That's what I did, too. For one thing I anticipate they're gradually improving the procedure and I get a new phone relatively rarely (so I've forgotten what I did the last time).

I have always found switching phones easier than I expected.
I use Android phones and always found the apps associated with my Google account so as soon as I register my account on the phone, it knows to download my apps such as LibreLink.
I would not risk changing phones mid sensor though. But you can set everything up in preparation.
I also enjoy going for a walk but I wouldn't do that at night when it is dark so happy to do something else then like setting up my new phone.

Which sensors are you using? I think Libre may not want to move devices once started, but other sensors eg Dex can switchover fine - even if that effectively means ‘restarting’.

All that happened with mine was a message came up to ask me if I wanted to pair the transmitter. So I clicked yes and the sensor just carried on as normal. (I'm using the Dexcom G6)

Yes I think the same happened with my G6 with my recent phone upgrade - though as a self-funder I regularly restart them so that would not have been very memorable to me.
