At risk of diabetes
Hi Everyone,

Two years ago I had an accident which left me unable to do much for myself but gradually I’ve recovered though by then the damage was done & I’d gained at least a stone, if not more plus I’d started this sedentary lifestyle of doing not much. I’ve been on Tramadol & Pregabalin which has made me think I’m hungry so I’ve obliged by eating more. Today my GP has said she thinks I’ve gone from being pre diabetes to Type 2 with blood tests next week. So tomorrow I start to come off the medication & tonight I meal plan to reverse this diagnosis.

Thanks for reading.

Hi chattycathy, love the name, my mum used to call me this when I was young :D

You will find loads of great information and support here to help you with your diet changes, best advice I can give is to make a brew, get comfy and read the back posts! Remember it’s not just the obvious sugars that you need to be careful with, our body treats carbohydrates in exactly the same way as sugars so you need to think about what you can reduce or cut out. Fruit is another natural form of sugar so watch what you choose, the tropical fruits are the highest so best avoided, many on here can tolerate a few berries but sadly I can’t :( but apples are ok for me now but I never have more than 2 in a day! Grapes are little sugar balls so again, best avoided.
Have a good read and then ask any questions you have, no such thing as a stupid question here and we will all try not to give stupid answers 😛

Hi chattycathy, Cathyb is right in all she has said. We have all have to make lots of changes but it is possible and you can do it bit by bit if you need to. We are all happy to help with any questions, some are more experienced than I am but we like to support each other as we are all on the same path. Welcome to you
