I' wanting to quit smoking and have been offered champix. Anyone else here tried this and how did it work out for you? Did it affect your sugars?

My wife tried Champix and it made her suicidal, so she had to stop. It doesn't happen to everyone, but some people have been known to suffer depression when taking it. No idea if it affect BG levels though.

Hi Sammi, have you tried anything else to help you in quitting smoking before, or is Champix the first thing you were thinking of trying? Have you spoken with your GP about quitting, was it your healthcare team that suggested it?

I'e tried the quick mist, gum and patches had issues with each I do have a vape but it' just hard to completley switch to it.

I had the same problems with the vape Sammi...then changed the liquid I used...I've now been using the vape for just on four months...if is difficult to switch it took me several goes to get it right...why not give it another try?

Aye, I agree with Bubbsie, give vaping another go. Don’t go for fruity flavours or anything fancy, stick to tobacco flavours, at least 1.8%. Then progress down through the strengths. There’s no rush, because it won’t kill you, and there are no side effects. And it assuages the comfort of sticking something in you mouth. The ritual. Nothing else does that.

I wouldn’t touch Champix with a bargepole, you’ve got enough on your plate at the moment without drugs addling your brain and body, and if you lapse while on it you’ll feel bloody awful. That’s if you don’t feel awful anyway.

Yes, If you have a fag on Champix, it makes you very ill.
