After buying a waffle maker from lidl this weekend, I have been experimenting making Chaffles, had 2 today with bacon lettuce and tomato between them for a super tasty low carb B.L.T.

when you say waffle maker, are you talking electric or a stove top one, i got a stove top one, but i do have trouble getting the right amount of filling, i'm either over with it dribbling out the sides, or under with some sad deflated waffles:rofl:

It's an electic one, and I'm the same, some thick and oozing out and some almost transparent. It's all a bit of trial and error at the moment.

Ours goes straight on the gas, so heat it up, open it, pour batter in to the top of the bottom half, close and 'fairly soon' (c 1 minute-ish) invert, still on the gas ring - try opening it after another min - won't succeed unless content is cooked. Cook it longer turning over and back again as many times as necessary. You won't have any joy unless the cast iron is VERY hot both sides.

Can somebody please post the recipe for chaffles as I would love to try one but have no idea how to make them

It's a cheese omlette, just egg and grated cheese.
You can add a bit of almond flour, or a pinch of baking powder.
Cook it in a waffle maker.

I expect that's 'or a pinch of baking powder' 🙂

I have been watching a few of Dennis Pollock's videos, who has a YouTube channel 'Beat Diabetes'
He is very positive and enthusiastic, and American ....... but it's easy enough to translate where necessary!

You might like this video - and he has lots of other videos about diabetes -

Made me hungry!
Not a chaffle to be fair.
This made four.
Three eggs, cheese, chopped, not grated, dried mixed herbs, fresh chives, black pepper, beaten with a fork, vegi sausage, (only 5g of carbs per half sausage, but check!) and half a cherry tomato.
