My favourite topic! Yesterday I saw New Forest Diabetes Specialist Nurses for the Community group, who are my newish team, and they have no CGMs at all, which I find hard to believe. I think Hampshire had such bad reports about their treatment of young people with T1 that all the funding is now going to them, and I certainly am not complaining about that. I just wish we could have more too!

There's none in Cornwall either :(

I understood from the head DSN that we do have one in Cornwall, but it's useless because they have no sensors and no funding to get any 😱

So why the pluck don't they loan it out if a patient wants to self fund a sensor?

I went to a meeting a couple of years back which was meant to be the Cornwall PCT listening to what the patients wanted.
Each time anyone mentioned something the squawk went up but we haven't got any money to fund anything.

The people concerned arived in a car with Cornwall PCT sign written all over it. It wasn't an old car either.
Personally I could have found better use for the money than spending it on a car for staff to run around in. 😡

Well it happens everywhere - Coventry's big enough but don't you remember me having to wait until after the start of the new financial year to have the CGM because there was no dosh for sensors until then?

And that was THEM wanting ME to have it, not me badgering them ....

I really hope one or other of the sensor-less technologies currently nearly readiness for launch make a difference in clinics across the UK

sue one of the meetings I went to too... we talked on the phone if you recall... I agree, they called out how poverty stricken we are but no way of sorting it!

Hi Patti,
yes I remember and it was lovely to talk to you. 🙂

Funny enough nothing has been done even after all this time.
It should be interesting to see what happens when PCT's are abolished.

My GP is all for CGM's and self management.

I wish it was my GP practice who held the purse strings, they are brill but sadly I think it will be the "conservative" practices. I'd gladly fund my own sensor but methinks the local CGM is an antique!
