Cellulitis

Out of the blue contracted cellulitis on Friday which is now being treated with antibiotics. Could not find any bites or breaks in skin but do recall a small bout of athletes foot on the same leg couple of weeks ago. Some sites suggest people suffering diabetes are more at risk but confused as it is a bacterial infection.

I ended up getting my diabetes diagnosis after I went to the doctor with a cellulitis infection. I think in my case, this had been present for many months at least, and slowing was slowly getting worse, about which I had been in denial for some time. Particularly if combined with elevated blood pressure and obesity, then blood circulation in the legs may be poor, and hence the body's ability to fight off the infection impaired. It took 4 weeks of high strength antibiotics for my infection to fought off. I decided to totally redesign my lifestyle at that point, and have now lost 4 1/2 stone and cut out all 'bad' foods. I don't think it is that important to find the specific cause of such an infection, but rather to concentrate on general health, and thereby improve the body's ability to fight any infection that does occur.

I had a bad reaction to the AZ covid jab and since then have had several bouts of cellulitis, but I began to use an antiseptic cream on my toes before and after cutting my nails - I believe that I do not injure my toes when cutting, but the timing suggested a connection. Since doing that, I have not had cellulitis, so I am content to continue with the cream as cellulitis causes me agony when walking or standing up.
My feet do seem to have been affected by the swelling. Not a lot, but they feel a little more fragile, not so flexible. I cut some innersoles from lambs skin, complete with fleece and they are more cushioning and comfortable than the several layers of foam innersoles I tried when hoping to reduce the pain of walking..
