The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will recommend on Oct. 25 that patients with diabetes receive immunization with the hepatitis B vaccine, following findings that U.S. adults with diabetes patients face a roughly twofold increased risk for hepatitis B infection.

Results from CDC investigations identified inadequately cleaned blood glucose monitors as a major route of hepatitis B virus transmission among patients with diabetes, Meredith L. Reilly, a CDC epidemiologist, said while presenting a poster at the meeting.

Cor. Nobody else does my BG usually and nobody else touches my meter. Well Pete does sometimes I expect but if I was gonna catch owt from him I should think my meter would be last place. Plus whenever I've had meter probs and my DSN has tested it on her machine to see, I've always bodged with my own bodger.

Should have thought you were more likely to get it from the bodger than the monitor meself ....
