HOSPITAL services may have to be reduced if bosses lose a financial dispute with their NHS paymasters.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has yet to agree a contract with commissioners for the current financial year and had set a deadline for the end of April for a deal to be done. It was expected if no agreement had been reached by today (Friday), senior NHS officials would be called in to make a decision.
The dispute revolves around plans by doctors to cut emergency admissions at the Alex and Worcestershire Royal by about six per cent by treating more people in the community. The Trust say that would result in a loss of almost ?8million - equivalent to closing seven wards.
