Tuberculosis (TB) cases are surging, fuelling fears England may see a resurgence of the Victorian-era illness.

The latest UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) figures show 5,480 people were struck by the bacterial infection in 2024 — a rise of 13 per cent on the previous year.


Kansas is facing one of the largest recorded tuberculosis outbreaks in U.S. history, according to local health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I remember having my jab at secondary school in the 1960s. They used one of the classrooms and we lined up in the corridor. Some of the boys (it was a boys' school) were noticeably nervous and weren't helped by the boy at the front, looking into the classroom, saying that they threw the needle into your arm like a dart.
