Hi, I look after a type one diabetic who was diagnosed type 1 for just over 15 years ago.

Whats amazing is the conflicting advice for various health professionals as we have had as we have moved (for work) about the country in the last 10 years (and before that in the US). It has made us more self sufficient though, and very grateful for the really plugged in helpful folks we have met along the way.

We have tried a lot of regimes, and in terms of diet the absolute star is low GL (glycemic load), along with regular. Blood sugars stable, weight stable and mood pretty stable too 😉 A no-brainer I am sure you are all saying as you read this, but its definitely not the advice we have always been given.

Looking forward to learning more and hopefully contributing a bit of helpful advice here and there too.

🙂 Claire

Hi Claire and a warm welcome to the forum.x

Hi Claire and welcome - if we can help you with anything just ask.

Welcome to the forum, I look forward to hearing from you as you seem to be quite experienced as a carer.......:D

What exactly is 'Regular' insulin?

Welcome Claire - and whoever is the person diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 15 years ago that you look after. Whatever age they were diagnosed, they must now be approaching / have reached adulthood, especially as you say "weight stable", and be taking responsibility for themselves?
