I seem to always start posts by saying I am really new to this but I really am 😛

For almost 2 weeks my OH and I have been trying to learn what I should and shouldn't be eating and I found this a few mins ago and it seems to be agreeing with a lot of the posts I am seeing in here re what food to take or to avoid etc.

So, is this broadly the way I should be going and should we (sorry, by 'we' I mean T2) be going by the carb value or the net carb value of foods....... or is the document not suitable for a LCHF diet?

Sorry if I am being stupid/missing a point. I know it uses American measurements but if the overall basis is right, I will search for a version that uses UK versions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

In the USA they use net carbs, because they include FIBER in the total carbs, so you subtract the fiber from the total carbs to get net carbs. In the UK, FIBRE is listed separately, so just take the total carb value, it is already "net". If you are not sure if the website is USA ot UK based, the spelling of fiber/fibre is a good clue.🙂

I usually avoid the US sites to avoid confusion re the carb values. That’s an Atkins document. You’ll see around the forum that Type 2s eat a range of diets so please don’t think you have to copy just one. Find what suits you as an individual.

Spot on @silentsquirrel

Net carbs is only really a thing if you are using US sources for carb information. UK sources don’t include the weight of fibre in the ‘total carbohydrate’ figure.
