Carbs in Kale

I'm confused. Googled carbs in kale, and result was 9g per 100g (A US site, but that is NET) but Sainsbury's site states 1.4g per 100g. Is kale in the states different to ours?

I love the stuff, its crammed with vit C. Keep eating your greens. I make soup with the stuff & have not noticed any highs with it.

US include undigestible fibre (or fiber as spelt in USA) in their CHO figures, which could account for the difference.

The 9g is with the fibre taken off.

Interesting! I would be inclined to believe Sainsbury's. 9% sounds an awful lot for a green leafy veg, it's more than carrots, which actually taste sweet.

I've just looked it up on Myfitnesspal and it ranges from 1.4 to 9 depending what you look at. Weird! I've always gone with a low figure, because I can't really believe it can be that carby! (By the time I've mixed it with loads of other veg in soup or a stir fry, it's a bit of a guesstimate anyway!)

Kale has next to no carbs. Here's the data on CoFID which is about as accurate as you'll get.
