I don't know if I'm missing something here but does this add up to 49g and not 50g?Screenshot_20210811-134807_Carbs & Cals.jpg

49g is near enough 50. 1g certainly doesn't matter as regards your insulin dosing and the carb values given for products are unlikely to be accurate to 1 or 2 % anyway.

I look at food and think in terms of my half unit dosing ability, so I will think "Is that plate of food likely to be nearer 35g carbs or 40g?". Being as much as 5g or even 10g out isn't going to kill me so I don't worry about it. Of course Libre enables me to keep track of things and correct one way or the other if I am going too high or too low later.

Can't remember the last time I weighed something! 😱 :D

Unless your weighing your slices of bread the carbs are going to differ a lot anyway, they very rarely weigh what the pack states a slice weighs xx

You have a carb ratio of 1:10 - so if you enter 50g that’s 5 units of insulin needed. If it’s 49 it’s 4.9 units which will be rounded up to 5. So it isn’t worth worrying about because it will make no difference whatsoever to your insulin dose. Even on a pump which would give you 4.9 units I very much doubt that you would notice the difference, it’s such a tiny amount!

If you have a snack less than 10g carbs you don’t need insulin for it because it won’t have enough of an effect on your blood sugar. I take that to also mean that if you calculate your carbs at lunchtime and then what you actually eat is different by less than 10 it also won’t make enough of a difference to worry about 🙂
