Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I've just been to the Doctors for advice. I wanted to be sure I had my diet sorted out as I'm vegetarian and wanted to check if I have enough protein. He was pleased with what I told him, and printed me out a pamphlet. Now, I've been working on 150ish Carbs a day. His pamphlet works on calories. How do I work them out. It doesn't specify the carb amounts. Confused now.Can anyone help?

Calories aren't going to help at all - calories from protein - eat all you want - fats too - carbs are the things to concentrate on, avoiding the carb dense foods such as bread, rice - any grain really - sugary stuff is bad news - even fruit.
I could not eat that quantity of carbs in a day and maintain my weight - I can't even do 50 gm these days.
As carbs have 4 calories per gram I get less than 200 calories per day from them, but as a vegetarian you are a lot more constrained. There is advice for vegetarians meal plans and foods to choose, do seek it out - but be aware that many drs and nurses have very little understanding of how to deal with type two diabetes
