Hi
i know there is lots to swap out and make it healthier but the 130g of carbs a day can they include if eaten in moderation things like pizza and bread ( i know it is better to cut them completley ) or is it certain types of carbs only? just looking at meal ideas and so much different advice out there.

Hi @mark1985. I hope you are well?
I would say it'll include the pizza and bread as they both contain carbs. It can be a bit confusing when people are saying different things. I hope this helps.

thank you im trying to find a nice balance and looking at labels to work out meals i can make during day and keep withing that limit so much food to test and try out now next few weeks will be fun.

also i know a lot say better to spread them out during day but if planned that you want a heavy carb meal no more then 130g then no carbs for rest of the day is that also ok?

It would be better if you spread out your carbs throughout the day to avoid raising your blood glucose levels too much after a meal. If you take insulin before meals, having carbs will prevent your glucose levels from dropping too low.

i have just started metformin i'm T2 but im finding just a simple walk knocks my sugers down a bit

also the pizza im looking at is 20g per half so thinking having it over 2 days worth of meals

I also read that eating the carbs last in a meal might help, eg: eat fibre and proteins before eating the carbs.
So if you had say a roast, with potato, veg and meat, eat the veg and meat first and the potato's last.
Not quite sure why this helps, I think it slows down the BG rise somehow. Still new at this myself....

Hi Mark,
Although I usually spread my meagre carbs throughout the day, if there's going to be a special occasion I will save them up and splurge them at one sitting 😉 I always make sure I have a v low carb day the next day if I do this.

Splitting your pizza over 2 days is a great idea. Means you get 2 days of "treats" at only half the carbs.

Yes i have also seen this a few times its amazing how the body works i do plan to have plenly of veg and salard with the higher carb meals not pure carbs alone.

Ooh, never knew that! Worth a try 🙂

The problem with eating a huge amount of carbs in one meal is that your body will not deal with those carbs in a timely manner so there will be excess glucose floating around in the blood stream sticking to your red blood cells. Now maybe once in a while will do no harm but can lead to poor habits. Testing will indicate how much the effect will be on you.

What pizza are you having that is only 20g carb in half a pizza?

im planing no more then 35g of carbs per meal also this is on the odd meal not daily like 1 or 2 meals a week added a lot of very low of no carbs in my meal plans and a lot more veg then i used to eat. also suger i know this is a tricky one and best number is 0 but is there a good number to aim for while label reading per meal?

20g per half, sorry that does not seem right, low? is that cooked, thin slice with toppings?

The screen shot of the label implies that it is the case.
Sorry I belive what you are saying, but not the packaging.
Mmh, perhaps someone can help me out here frozen is not the same as cooked, still seems low, a slice of white bread is 20g to 25g of carbs

It’s correct, checked the packaging myself. It’s a high protein brand and made with broad bean flour, whatever that is. 20g carb in half the pizza.

My apologies thatbis good news then, I know products lie Heylo do low carb pizza and bread and usually high in protein.
Getting all hungry now 🙂
