Should I be keeping my carb count low or can I add more to a meal etc x

Depends. How that thing affects you and other factors like your insulin.

It all depends on how you cope with carbs! As a T1 you can in theory eat anything you want as long as you match your insulin to it. The reality may be different but it's one of those things you have to find out for yourself.

It's trial and error.( though my kids were taught in maths to refer to it as 'trial and improvement' which sounds more positive) I've personally found that eating carbs at breakfast does me no favours, because my Bg levels are always on the way up as soon as I get out of bed, but you may be different. The only way I discovered this was testing and seeing what happens!

I asked that today - my nurse said under no uncertain terms that I can eat as much of whatever as I want - as long as I know the amount of carbs I am eating, and the ratio of carbs to units of insulin and then bolus for it, I am fine. Its always best to eat within the daily guidelines though.

That said, if your ratio is wrong, then the more carbs you eat, the more you will suffer!

Thanks was going to ask my DSN on Tuesday, just rather fed up of trying to find low carb foods for tea x
