Could someone recommend a book which lists carbs in food please
Happy New Year All xx

Carbs and Cals can be helpful but then again its always safer (as a Type 1 and basing insulin doses on it anyway) using the packaging as things can vary widely by brand for the same things
xx

Thanks for the reply but it is a book I want I am a 2 and I do check
packaging but I still would like a book to look through

As I said, Carbs and Cals is the closest thing you'll get but it really can and does vary widely so can be inaccurate

Got this book for Christmas and its brilliant and easy to understand as it uses pictures along with carb data etc. I'm abit like a child, I like looking at the pictures of food so you can see what different portions contain, should have left some pages with no colour so I could get my felt tip pens out :D

I use carbs and Cals book quite successfully and I use the app on my phone for every meal, the app allows you to put the weight of what you want to eat into it and it will calculate the amount of carbs, it’s maybe not perfect but it’s pretty close. I don’t get any major highs or lows when using the app

Another vote for Carbs and Cals here, we have the book and the app, it seems pretty accurate. There are times when food packaging doesn’t give you the information you need, or if you are eating out for example (not that you can at the moment...). Packaging information isn’t 100% accurate either, it’s all educated guesswork!

I am vegetarian and cook from scratch a lot.
I found carbs and cals tedious for looking up all the individual ingredients to add up the carbs. So, I created a spreadsheet of my usual ingredients by googling “carbs in...”.

But, if you like Carbs and Cals, there is an app version which some people like.

I found carbs and cals helpful if eating out but not so good at home when cooking from scratch, tbh I agree with it being tedious for looking up individual ingredients.
If the carbs are unclear or non existent on the pack, I weigh the portion I want then do a google for the carb content.
