Carb and Calorie Counting

I am 76, insulin requiring, with t2d, hbp and bph. Reduced weight over last 18 months by 21kg and aiming for remission. I find the Libre2 sensor very helpful most of the time but want greater precision over my diet. Looking for the best (Android) app to help count cals and carbs and collect other data. Currently testing out SNAQ, but it's not quite what I want. Cronometer looks very interesting and connects to Dexcom but not yet to Libre. Any suggestions/experiences?

Several of our members like Cronometer for nutrient tracking.

Others find the visual style of Carbs and Cals (either as a book or app) handy as a ready-reckoner.

Still others opt for MyFitnessPal (more US-centric) or Nutracheck (more UK-friendly).

I guess it depends in how you see yourself using it, what you’d like to be checking or tracking, and whether or not integration with other technologies you are using is helpful to you?

Many thanks for response, I would prefer to use Libre2 and ideally use an app that will link to this. I have been using Carbs & Cals for quite a while but, while it is a very good reference (initially recommended by Dietician), I really want something that I can use to monitor easily consumption of nutrients so I do not go over my daily Cals and Carbs allowance as part of my weight reduction programme.

There aren’t any calories or carb counting apps that link into the libre 2 app

Hi Lucy
In fact SNAQ DOES connect to Libre2. It does not bring in past history or insulin dosages at all. But it will record food data from when you set it up. On this app you can't see directly how insulin and food together affect bg, which is what I would like to do.

It isn’t doing what you want then. There aren’t any apps that libre app will read the carbs from to plot it on your bg graph where you also have the insulin markers. It doesn’t interact with other apps like that.

Yes, Lucyr. I had managed to work out, all on my own, that "it isn't doing what I want". The SNAQ app plots carbs on the bg graph which is good, and also gives a cumulative score of macro, cals and TIR, which is also good. But not insulin, at least not yet. So still exploring.
