Looking for advice from you experienced nutritionists please :D

I have great difficulty with carbs of any sort - they seem to push up my bgs without filling me up and I feel like snacking all the time with the result that I have put on 5lbs when I badly need to lose 5st.:(

I wonder if anyone can suggest alternatives to carbs, eg is there anything I can replace rice with in curries/chinese

Similarly what can replace pasta? Bread?

I thought of halving the amounts of rice/pasta in dishes and making the amount up with something else - maybe this might reduce the effect?

Feel so confused sometimes - porridge doesn't seem to affect me so much so I have it almost every morning with berries as I can't face eggs and bacon, omelette etc; however when I have eggs etc I rarely feel hungry til the next meal so there has got to be something in the carbs that doesn't suit me.

Grated cauliflower rice is often used as a alternative to conventional rice when eliminating carbohydrates, it's very bland in taste and the texture can be watery so try adding some spices and seasoning to give the cauliflower some taste during frying.

Hi, I get this too, having plenty of protein rich (or fatty) foods, lots of veg and less carbs will slow down the uptake of sugar from your food meaning that you don't get hungry as quickly after a meal. I have cut down the amount of carbs and increased the amount of other foods I eat. So I have poached or scrambled egg and one slice of toast for breakfast. I eat lots of salad for lunch etc. I am not trying to lose weight though, but I would have thought that eating a healthy cooked breakfast and filling up with lots of veg might help you. It would be best to avoid frying stuff though, try poached eggs instead of fried and have some veg like grilled tomatoes and mushrooms.

Whilst not carb free try using pearl barley to replace rice.
You will have to try snacking on something carb free (dare I suggest bits of carrot!), Pork Scratchings are good and carb free but high calorie.
Microwaved cheese slices and a good substitute for bread to make ham sandwich (Take a small sheet of teflon baking sheet (the black stuff). Place 2 slices of Kraft or Dairylea processed cheese almost touching on it. Put it microwave and zap for 1 min 40 secs on full power (1000 watt). Open door and dry out door. carefully remove baking sheet and allow to cool. Once cool the cheese will peel off and will be quite stiff. Insert slice of Ham and fold together. Eat.)
